The recent news that the pivotal Phase III clinical trial for Roche/Genentech/Chugai’s Avastin failed to significantly improve overall survival in the first-line, metastatic, hormone-refractory setting will significantly impact the prostate cancer drug market. Avastin’s failure in prostate cancer casts substantial doubt over the potential of other angiogenesis inhibitors that are currently in clinical trials for metastatic prostate cancer. However, this recent development also offers an opportunity for other emerging therapies – most notably AstraZeneca’s zibotentan – to benefit, owing to reduced competition in combination with Sanofi-Aventis’s Taxotere and prednisone.

This 15-minute analyst call, presented by Analyst Andrew Merron, Ph.D., will answer the following questions:

  • What impact will Avastin’s recent clinical trial failure have on the prostate cancer drug market?
  • Which agents will benefit from Avastin’s clinical trial failure?
  • What impact does this development have on the potential of other emerging angiogenesis inhibitors in the prostate cancer drug market?

Dr. Merron will conduct a live Q & A session after the presentation.
