Over the past decade, there has been a shift from asthma management based on disease severity to asthma management based on disease control. The 2009 Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) treatment guidelines emphasize that asthma severity is not a function of the pre-treatment intensity of symptoms but that asthma severity is a function of the level of treatment necessary to achieve disease control. Martin Quinn, B.A., is an analyst for the Immune and Inflammatory Disorders group at Decision Resources. Prior to joining the company, he developed courses and taught business English in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and co-founded a national investment partnership focused on market analysis, education, and long-term growth.
