Decision Resources Pharmacor Analyst Call

What Are the Most Compelling Drug Development Opportunities for the Treatment of Uncontrolled Asthma?

Based on our Pharmacor advisory service entitled Asthma, Decision Resources is offering an exclusive analyst call entitled What Are the Most Compelling Drug Development Opportunities for the Treatment of Uncontrolled Asthma? This presentation is ONLY available to purchasers of this Pharmacor advisory service.

The substantial subset of the asthma population that remains uncontrolled represents a considerable area of untapped potential in the asthma drug market. Over the past decade, there has been a shift from asthma management based on disease severity to asthma management based on disease control. The 2009 Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) treatment guidelines emphasize that asthma severity is not a function of the pre-treatment intensity of symptoms but that asthma severity is a function of the level of treatment necessary to achieve disease control.

In an effort to identify the most relevant drug development opportunities in asthma, Decision Resources recently conducted a survey of 30 U.S. primary care physicians (PCPs) and 30 U.S. pulmonologists in order to examine the underlying factors that cause uncontrolled asthma.

This 15-minute analyst call, presented by Analyst Martin Quinn, will answer the following questions:

  • What percentage of asthma patients remains uncontrolled and what are the primary causes of patients’ uncontrolled asthma?
  • What factors have the greatest potential to improve the outlook for the uncontrolled asthma population and, among these factors, which are most likely to be realized over the next ten years?
  • What are the most compelling drug development opportunities in the asthma market?

Mr. Quinn will also discuss how the recent announcement by the U.S Food and Drug Administration regarding safety controls for LABA-containing medications will affect surveyed PCPs’ and pulmonologists’ prescribing of LABA/ICS combinations for patients with asthma.

A live Q & A session with Mr. Quinn will follow the presentation.
