In a recent Decision Resources survey, 100 rheumatologists were asked to estimate their current and future use of the recently launched TNF-alpha inhibitors, UCB’s Cimzia and Centocor Ortho Biotech’s Simponi for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The survey results suggest that Cimzia has gained favor among rheumatologists since its launch in April 2009, while the intravenous formulation of Simponi may struggle to secure a substantial share of the rheumatoid arthritis market. Over the next decade, established TNF-alpha inhibitors such as Amgen/Pfizer’s Enbrel, Centocor Ortho Biotech/Schering-Plough/Mitsubishi Tanabe’s Remicade and Abbott’s Humira are expected to lose market share to Cimzia and Simponi.

In this 15-minute analyst call, Decision Resources Director Cynthia Mundy, Ph.D. will answer the following questions:

  • How do rheumatologists expect to use Cimzia and Simponi? How have their views evolved now that these agents have been marketed in the United States for six months?
  • How will their positions in the treatment sequence impact the sales of Cimzia and Simponi through 2018?
  • Among the established TNF-alpha inhibitors – Enbrel, Remicade and Humira – which are most at risk of losing share to Cimzia and Simponi?

Dr. Mundy will conduct a live Q & A session after the presentation.
