Metastatic Colorectal Cancer in Europe: Changing Dynamics in Light of Increasing Segmentation and New Therapeutic Options is based on surveys with 224 oncologists and interviews with 20 hospital-based payers in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. The report explores how Bristol-Myers Squibb/Eli Lilly/Merck KGaA’s Erbitux will impact the market share of Roche/Chugai’s Avastin and how Erbitux will change the competitive landscape for targeted agents in colorectal cancer in these five European countries. Launched in 2005 for colorectal cancer, Avastin has rapidly expanded its label to include four of the five most prevalent tumor types. In 2008, Avastin posted global sales close to $5 billion. Despite its significant commercial success and widespread use, Avastin is under threat from Erbitux, which is now being used to treat a subset of the first-line metastatic colorectal cancer population—patients with wild-type KRAS (Kirsten rat sarcoma 2 viral oncogene).
This webinar, presented by Decision Resources Analyst Marcus Hoyle, B.Sc., will answer the following questions:
- In the countries under study, how does the use of Avastin in first-line treatment affect how colorectal cancer is treated in the second-line?
- In what lines of therapy will Avastin and Erbitux be used to treat the wild-type KRAS patient population? In first- and second-line treatment, which drug will be used the most – Avastin or Erbitux?
- According to surveyed European oncologists, how will KRAS testing influence clinical practice in the treatment of colorectal cancer?
- How do surveyed experts expect the uptake and reimbursement of KRAS testing to impact the colorectal cancer drug market?
Mr. Hoyle will conduct a live Q & A session after the presentation.
